Gatwick

The team flew out of Gatwick early this morning and have now arrived safely in Ylläsjärvi, Finland, where the temperature was -24 degrees C. This will be our home for the next week as we begin Exercise Aurora Adventure.

It’s been a busy day travelling and settling in, checking kit and preparing equipment for our first full day on the snow tomorrow.

Standing deep inside the Arctic Circle, surrounded by forests, mountains, and vast winter landscapes, it’s already clear that this will be a challenging and special experience.

Over the coming week, our group of wounded, injured and sick serving and veteran military personnel will push themselves physically and mentally through cross-country ski touring in demanding Arctic conditions. This expedition is about resilience, teamwork, recovery and rediscovering confidence,  all in an environment that is as tough as it is inspiring.

We’re ready to get started. More updates to follow as Aurora Adventure unfolds.
