So that was 2025…….
Published Wednesday, 24th December 2025As we approach the end of a busy and productive year, which has seen both consolidation and growth, it seems appropriate to pause and reflect on how far we have come as a small charity before switching focus to the year ahead and beyond.
I am continually humbled by the manner in which we continue to deliver incredible opportunities for our wounded, injured and sick community to challenge themselves alongside people in a similar position as part of their recovery journey.
This year we have witnessed incredible determination, teamwork and resilience on expeditions that have seen a ski crossing of the iconic Hardangervidda Plateau in Norway in challenging conditions; an epic cycle from Canterbury Cathedral to the Vatican in Rome following the celebrated ‘Pilgrim’s Trail’ covering 1200 miles in a little over 12 days; and a week of rock climbing on the inspiring granite cliffs of West Cornwall, culminating in a whole team ascent of the iconic Commando Ridge.
All of this was achieved through the hard work and diligence of the Board of Trustees and a team of volunteers and supporters who willingly give of their experience and time to provide memorable opportunities that can have a hugely positive impact not just on the individuals taking part but on their immediate support circle.
We have worked hard to raise the funds necessary to implement our ambitious programme of events and in this we have been supported by an increasing number of partners and friends who have helped us to broaden our reach and generously contributed to a cause that they believe in. Two successful fund raising events this year have allowed us to plan with confidence for next year. This effort will continue into 2026 as we hold hard to our belief that our injured community should be able to participate without facing a financial hurdle to them doing so.
Next year promises to be every bit as busy and will require us to dig deep again but I could not be more convinced that we will continue to grow and provide much needed support to an incredibly special group of people as they strive to achieve and succeed.
It just remains for me to offer my sincere gratitude to all within the 65 Degrees North family for all your support, diligence and good humour through a tough but successful year.
Enjoy this special time of year with the most important people of all, your family and friends.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas.
