South West Coast Path Challenge – One Day, 52 Legs, One Mission
Published Sunday, 17th May 2026
On 16 May 2026, an ambitious and inspiring challenge took place: walking the entire South West Coast Path in a single day.
The event was organised and delivered by an external team on behalf of 65 Degrees North, supporting the charity’s ongoing work.
As the UK’s longest continuous walking trail at 630 miles, the path is divided into 52 individual legs, each typically taking a full day to complete.
The goal was simple but powerful: to have at least 52 individuals or groups each take on one leg of the path on the same day, at the same time and this challenge brought people together in an incredible display of camaraderie, connection and support for the charity.
This was far more than just a walking challenge; it was a collective effort that reflected the resilience, teamwork and determination that 65 Degrees North instils in those it supports.
Participants of all backgrounds took part, from experienced hikers to those simply wanting to enjoy a day along some of the most breathtaking coastline in the world, all contributing to something truly meaningful.
A special thank you must also go to 65 Degrees North beneficiary Ray Evans who, despite being an amputee, took on an incredible 76-mile journey from Falmouth to Plymouth entirely on his own — an absolutely amazing achievement that inspired everyone involved.
Together, the initial fundraising target of £5,000 was not only achieved but well surpassed. A huge thank you goes to everyone who donated, as well as a massive thank you to all those who took part and helped make the event such a success.
Thank you to Chris C and Kerry for organising this event on our behalf.
